Firstly congradulations to all Bairnsdalecc’s riders today, very well done. Considering the un inviting weather we endured BCC showed a force in numbers today with 11 racers turning up, some for the first time. Kudos to you all, we hope you enjoyed your selves.
A Grade seen BCC’s Kai Rothlisberger put the hurt on the entire field attacking relentlessly one attack after another, unfortunately for Kai this come at a cost. Dave McLean was seen driving the chase bunch showing he is as always in strong form & Kai Rothlisberger put on a great show finishing 4th & 5th in a very strong field. Well done boys🖒
B Grade. BCC was well represented by Daniel Rickhuss, Jay Symons, Dave Willowhite & Adam Scanlan. Dave & Jay were te early hard workers making sure no one got away to soon while Adam in his first road race seemed to learning alot fast. Kristy Glover & Rob Monk got away which seen Jay & Dave get tough to keep them with in reaching distance. In doing so riders were dropping like mozzies in zapper!! Untill the chase group consisted of just 5. WCC’s young gun Mitch Rankin attacked the chase group & went across to the lead group. Daniel followed along with another rider but could not hang on through the last of Beverleys. Rib Monk dropped back to Jay Symons & Daniel Rickhuss which seen Jay go to again to keep the three in touch. Daniel went accross again to the lead group but cramped & found himself back behind Jay once again! By the last decent Jay had towed Rob & Daniel to the back of leaders which changed the race as there were now 3 sprinters sitting on waiting for the finish! As the finish line approached Jay suffered a flat, 3 riders sprinted early which seen WCC’s Mitch Rankin take 1st BCC’s Daniel Rickhuss rolled across behind him in 2nd & Rob Monk managed to hang on for 3rd I am lead to believe.
C Grade. We seen some of BCC’s newest members turn up for thier first road race. Especially great to see father & son, Ryan & Che Buckley, (Che 12 y/o)!! Special mention to Carol Hughes & Imogen Hubbard who rode really well to finish the race which was ridden in very wet conditions, well done. & as always representing BCC & helping people the whole ride Leigh Thompson, well done to you champ. First timer Nic Chila was a great performer today & we hope she enjoyed herself as we welcome Nic into our club. Thanks for having a go Nic your a ripper.
I was told that there may have been a bit of father son banter a long the early part of the ride which seen father Ryan attack & also stay away for the win, well done Ryan but its fair to say this will be his first & last race in C Grade! 2nd place went to WCC junior Aiden who is improving every race. Not far behind 1st & 2nd was our girl, a very powerful Jacinta Preston storming home, the way she looked heading to the line I think leaders were glad they had the line, she may have caught them in another klm or 2!!
Well done to everyone who raced today, stay up right & keep training as WCC’ Rowley Handicap is in a fortnight & it’s one you definitely don’t want to miss.
See you there.
